Appearance characteristics: The flatback musk turtle is a small turtle with a back shell about 7.5 to 10.0 cm (3.0 to 3.9 inches) long. The largest recorded one is 11.4 cm (4.5 inches). As its common name and species glossary indicate, its back shell is flatter than that of other species of the genus musk turtle.
Resting condition: Streams with rocky bottoms and stagnant water around them
Livelihood customs: Rarely basking in the sun. It is better to exercise under the slight sunlight in the evening and at night, especially in midsummer. Larvae are obviously better at moving than adults during the day. Males have a larger range of movement than females. In one season and in one area, more adults can move. The movement range of male and female turtles is mainly maintained within 20 to 30 meters.
